So you want to clean your room but don’t know where to begin? Do not fear; this article will cover the basics of how to go about tidying up. I have autism and it works for me.
5 Simple Steps To Clean Your Room:
The first thing you’ll need is a large garbage bag, some boxes (optional), and enough time to work on your room. Be sure that the time allotted to cleaning is not interrupted by people or events that could be disruptive (i.e., phone calls, doorbells, if you share your space). If at all possible, ask people for their consideration in advance.
Once everything has been prepared and accounted for, it’s time to get started! First, do a quick check around the room, gathering any trash lying about. It may be necessary to retrieve the garbage bag from the kitchen.
As you continue through the cleaning process, make sure you remain aware of your working environment. This will help prevent accidents and injuries.
Next, survey the room for things that are out-of-place or belong in another place (such as back on a desk or shelf). Gather any items that fit this description according to category: all clothes together, books together, etc. If it’s too difficult to sort by category, then organize within piles alphabetically/chronologically/etc., with like items grouped together.
Once everything is sorted into its proper places or piles, go through each and repair it if needed. For instance, if you wear jeans (or any pants) to work, make sure the belt is fastened properly. If it’s too long or too short, you can adjust it while watching TV or listening to music.
Now that everything has been properly repaired and/or arranged in its proper place, take a step back and admire your work. Do you feel that sense of accomplishment?
Congratulations! You’ve just finished cleaning your room! Dr Jordan B Peterson would be proud…
